Apple's Updated Siri Works With Scientology To Solve Problems - Personal & Business (SAT PAR News Aug 18, 2014) Not content with your smartphone answering every little known fact in existence, Apple has added a Scientology artificial intelligence application to answer any other question you might have. Apple CEO Tim Cook explained how it works, "Siri will first determine whether this is a fact-based question, if it is not, then the application will search a vast database of ethical and best practices for most types of situations as developed by Scientology information specialists. This can be personal relationships of all types, complicated agreement issues, business planning, and we even have a large section for child disputes. Getting younger we have advice for unhappy babies. We even have solutions for pet owners, the list is astounding. If this is an unexplored issue, Siri will combine related advice to get the best answer. Apple believes Siri is now the one stop virtual person to get the best advice. You will never be without answers to any situation again, we can promise that!" Controversy has erupted however over the use of Scientology to guide the system. CNET, the technology publishing company which also conducts software tests and reviews, noted that the answers are based around the premise of "All you need to solve the problem is enough data. Step outside your preconceptions, step outside the control of those who are causing the problem, and look for the information you are missing." CNET noted that this works for fact based problems but does little good for a 15 year old determining what to do with messy issues in dating, making decisions to engage in whistleblowing, or deciding on a career that may or may not be helping people. In other words Scientology lacks any real core of ethics and morals, so when problems arise in that area, the advice does not work. CNET found that the advice of close friends, parents, counselors, and religious advisers provided real world usable and on target ethical advice 96% more times than when the exact same personal problems were posed to those groups and Siri.
